F1 champion Jenson
Button and the Brawn GP team have been nominated for the prestigious
Laureus World Sports awards. Button is nominated in the 'Breakthrough
of the Year' category for winning the 2009 F1 title.
The Brawn GP team
is nominated for the team of the year award after the trouble they
had before the season started and then to go on and win the title.
None of the F1 drivers were nominated for the World Sportsman of the
year award.
MotoGP rider
Valentino Rossi is however in the running for the award. The
nominations came from the world's media and were announced by Mika
Hakkinen who drove for McLaren.
The winners will
be announced at an event in Abu Dhabi next month. They will be
selected by a jury of 46 of the world's greatest ever sports men and
women. |
