Ferrari's Felipe
Massa has criticised the new teams joining F1 this season and says
their slow pace is bad for the sport and could be a danger to the
leaders. The Italian squad has also criticised the way the new
entries was handled.
Massa is worried
about the slow pace of the new teams and the effect it will have on
races this season. "I hope they won't be a danger," said Massa.
"There are
six/seven teams one second apart while those teams are four seconds
behind. It's not good for the sport and not good for them: it's like
two different series. They'll suffer. And we'll suffer too, when we
have them in front of us during qualifying," he said.
The new Virgin
Racing and Lotus Racing teams were more than four seconds off the
pace during pre-season testing and that remains a concern. The FIA
might have to implement the 107% rule again to prevent slow cars from
taking part in a race. HRT has not even turned a wheel and its pace
is unknown at the moment. |
