Mercedes GP deliberately not showed full potential

09 March 2010 @ 05:30 GMT - Max Moore

Mercedes GP has deliberately not showed what the full potential of their new W01 is to through their rivals of target. The teams completed four pre-season testing session and during the sessions it's was difficult to determine the pecking order mainly due to fuel loads.

But Mercedes GP will have a major upgrade for Sunday's Bahrain grand prix. "Our car also has not been at the final configuration - something we had deliberately wanted," said Michael Schumacher.

The seven times world champion says they team wanted to use the two weeks between the last testing session and the race to finalise the development. The big question on everyone's mind is how good the new upgrade will be? "We wanted to use the 2 weeks development time between the last test and the race in Bahrain," Schumacher said.

"The car has not been completely at the level of other teams' cars at the end of the tests, true, but the amount of fuel was massively influencing this impression. It seems we were driving more fuel than others most of the time and therefore we look quite good I would say," Schumacher said of the testing.

Schumacher admits it's difficult to determine who has showed their true colours. "But then it is hard to judge who played all his cards yet," he said.
