F1's commercial
rights holder Bernie Ecclestone says a race in Rome will be added by
2013 sources said on Tuesday. The 2013 season will then have 20 races
compared to the current 19 races.
Ecclestone wanted
to extend the season to 20 races for a long time and has approved a
future street race in Italy's capital city. "Rome will come onto
the calendar in 2013. We will have 20 races and the teams will be
happy with it," he said according to a German news paper.
The famous Monza
will remain on the calendar giving the country two races. The mayor
of Milan Letizia Moratti is still worried that the race at Monza will
disappear from the calendar as a result. "I think competition
between cities is right, but it is equally correct to respect their
traditions," she said. |
