Webber reckons Schumacher will have a hard 2010 season

09 March 2010 @ 11:22 GMT - Max Moore

Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber says Michael Schumacher will have a tough F1 season on his return to the sport. The seven times world champion makes his return to the sport on Sunday at the Bahrain GP.

The German has been out of F1 since 2006, but continued a tough training program. Schumacher was also very competitive during February's free practice sessions and Mercedes GP will have a new major upgrade for the first race.

"I think it will be a bloody hard season for him. I think he'll go all right but I have never, ever seen a phenomenal comeback. When has the second career ever been better than the first?" he said.

The 33-year-old Australian says the new generation of drivers have it easier to make an impression because he feels F1 is now easier. "The cars are easier to drive. You don't look at these guys and think 'they are real men'. They are talented, no question, but there is less in common," he explained.

"There is power steering now; a lot of things that make the cars easier to drive. That's why these youngsters can get away with it. I came through the categories with gear sticks and what have you. And that was beneficial for me. But there is no point whingeing about it. They come along and do a good job for the most part. Some don't," he said.

"But every now and again - whether it's a Lewis [Hamilton] or a Seb [Vettel] - they can, with phenomenal grooming, come in and do a good job," he said.
