The new Lotus team
have signed two experienced drivers for the 2010 F1 season and it has
been a huge boost for the team. The outfit's technical director Mike
Gascoyne says it helped them a lot in their preparations for the new season.
The team has
signed form Toyota driver Jarno Trulli and former McLaren driver
Heikki Kovalainen. "Massively - because it means you are
straight on the pace. Jarno got in the car and within four or five
laps he said, 'I understand this is the problem - it's this, we need
to solve that'," Gascoyne said.
He said the
drivers have given the team a clear direction of how to solve the
problems quickly. "You then do some things and he says, 'yes,
this is better, we now have a clear direction.' So it is clear
straight away that he can pick it up," he said. |
