The McLaren team
has called for support of the new teams and former McLaren driver
Heikki Kovalainen is extremely happy about it. The Finn drivers for
the new Lotus team this season and it means a lot to him.
"I saw
McLaren supporting new teams, great to hear my friends there are
behind us!" he said on Tuesday. "As a group we have to be
supportive in getting new teams off the ground," said McLaren's
managing director Jonathan Neale.
He feels that it's
critical for the sport to get the new teams stable as quickly as
possible. Several drivers have raised concerns about the speed of the
teams and some labelled it as dangerous. "I respect greatly what
the drivers are saying and one or two have raised concerns about it,
but I think that's a matter for the FIA," he said.
Kovalainen is in
Bahrain and will look at the track layout after breakfast this
morning. "Great to get back to some sunshine, +25C 9am in
Bahrain! Gonna rush to the track after breakfast to check out the new
circuit layout," he said. |
